ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) is in the process of obtaining a new procurement contract for 4 units of CN235-220 multipurpose aircraft with Allied Aeronautics Limited (AAL), a local company in Nigeria for the Army end user.

PTDI President Director Gita Amperiawan said that so far PTDI has sent 70 units of various CN235 aircraft series to many consumers, both domestic and global. Of that number, 5 units are spread across the African continent, including Senegal, Burkina Faso and Guinea.

Meanwhile, new orders from Nigeria further emphasize Indonesia’s role as a significant defense partner on the African continent and its capabilities in defense manufacturing.

“For the CN235 aircraft, this will be the first export order obtained by PTDI in 2024, as well as expanding the market in the African region and opening a new footprint in Nigeria,” he said in an official statement, Wednesday, February 21 2024.

According to him, the export of CN235-220 aircraft to the African continent has strategic value for national industry because the track record of supplying export orders and satisfaction of foreign customers will then become the main requirements in international tender activities.

This new contract for Nigeria is also one of PTDI’s strategic steps to penetrate the markets of South Asian and African countries. This aircraft, he explained, was developed independently by PTDI through technology transfer cooperation with CASA Spain in 1980.

Gita explained that the CN235-220 aircraft has a number of advantages, including the ability to take off from short, unpaved and grassy runways, with a glass cockpit avionics system, autopilot, accompanied by ramp doors and winglets at each wing tip for better stability and fuel economy. .

Apart from that, in conjunction with the Singapore Airshow 2024 event, PTDI will also highlight its important role in manufacturing and business development, strengthening ties with customers, suppliers and partners, including the business strength of its subsidiaries, in this case PT Nusantara Turbin & Propulsi (PT NTP) in the field of engineering and MRO of gas turbines and rotating equipment.

This event is also an opportunity for PTDI to show how it continues to pioneer a sustainable aerospace industry ecosystem and its contribution to global companies.

The largest aviation exhibition in Asia, Singapore Airshow 2024 will be open from 20-25 February 2024 at the Changi Exhibition Center and PTDI will be present highlighting its various aircraft products, the N219 commercial product, as well as the CN235 and NC212i defense products. (AT Network)
