ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The largest maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) facility at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, Bali has started operating with the main focus on serving the Boeing and Airbus narrow body aircraft fleet. This MRO facility is operated by PT Avia Technics Dirgantara or FL Technics Indonesia.

President Director of FL Technis Indonesia, Martynas Grigas, explained that the MRO facility, which stands on 17,000 m2 of land, offers complete services, including line maintenance, base maintenance, heavy maintenance, logistics services, bonded logistics centers, as well as various other integrated services, including training facilities.

“FL Technics Indonesia’s MRO Hangar in Bali is the latest expansion designed to increase our capabilities in serving the aviation industry. “We are proud to be able to contribute to improving the quality of aviation services in Indonesia, especially at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, which is the second busiest airport in Indonesia,” explained Martynas to the media, quoted on Friday, November 29 2024.

“The inauguration of this facility is not only a monumental achievement for FL Technics Indonesia, but also a strategic step to realize our vision of building an Indonesian aviation ecosystem that is globally competitive, while making Indonesia the main hub to meet the needs of the aviation industry in the Asia Pacific region and Australia,” he explained.

Martynas also explained that the presence of MRO facilities at Ngurah Rai Airport would speed up the aircraft fleet maintenance process, reduce dependence on foreign services, and have a positive impact on airlines operating in Indonesia.

In addition, this facility also provides benefits to the local economy by creating jobs, both directly at the facility and in supporting sectors such as logistics and technical training.

Along with opening facilities in Bali, FL Technics Indonesia is also in the process of obtaining certification from the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) in the near future, followed by a certification target from the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) in 2025.

Meanwhile, the Main Director of PT Angkasa Pura Properti (APP), Ristiyanto Eko Wibowo, explained that the construction of MRO facilities aims to support airport operations and optimize land at Ngurah Rai Airport.

“This MRO facility is part of our initiative to optimize land at the airport, which we have consistently carried out since APP was founded. “We hope that the operation of this MRO facility can provide a success story of synergy and collaboration to create added value in the business chain and aviation ecosystem,” said Ristiyanto.

APP’s total investment for the physical construction of the hangar alone is IDR 150 billion, this value does not include the investment made by FL Technics Dirgantara. (AT Network)
