ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reform (PANRB) of the Republic of Indonesia as part of the National Electronic-Based Government System (SPBE) coordination team supports the presence of a Regional Hub on Big Data and Data Science for Asia and the Pacific at the Central Statistics Agency.
Deputy for Institutional and Administrative Affairs of the Ministry of PANRB, Nanik Murwati said that the aim was to accelerate the use of big data to produce fast and high-quality statistical data in order to support the preparation of data-based government policies.
“With high commitment and good relations with countries in the Asia and Pacific region, Indonesia can play an important role as the UN Regional Hub on Big Data and Data Science for Asia and the Pacific, spurring regional economic growth as the epicenter of change,” said Nanik in his statement in Jakarta, Saturday, November 25 2023.
In front of representatives of Asia Pacific countries, she said that the use of big data and data science in the government sector would have a positive impact in making decisions faster and more accurately, planning more efficiently, and providing better public services to the community.
This is in line with President Joko Widodo’s direction who wants bureaucracy to have an impact, bureaucracy is not just a pile of paper, and bureaucracy must be agile and fast, with the support of digital government and the One Data policy.
With various emerging global challenges, Digital Government requires breakthroughs in digital bureaucracy, digital culture and digital competency to accelerate the achievement of national development priorities.
In supporting the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045, the party has designed a digital transformation plan in the short, medium and long term until 2045, including optimizing data exchange and utilizing big data and artificial intelligence in government administration through the integration of national digital services and improving the economy.
Nanik said that the Indonesian government has had a one Indonesian data policy since 2019 and in 2022, with the increasing intensity of the use of personal data in various services, the Personal Data Protection Law has been enacted.
She hopes that by further strengthening data management policies in Indonesia, the development of Data Driven Digital Services will also be strengthened, as well as stronger Data Driven Policies.
“We continue to take initiatives by formulating Presidential Regulations that will strengthen governance, build government development and implementation capabilities, and accelerate the development of priority digital services that emphasize integration and interoperability through digital public infrastructure,” she said.
The objectives of the Regional Hub On Big Data and Data Science for Asia and the Pacific include providing a coordination function for institutions and official statistical groups working in the field of Big Data and data science in Asia and the Pacific.
Then, carry out research on the use of big data and data science to develop new statistical methods and techniques as well as provide capacity building and training for statisticians and data scientists from national, regional and global statistical offices.
