ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government officially launched the Free Nutritious Meal Program for school children in 26 provinces on Monday, December 6 2025.
This program is the flagship program of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto.
The National Nutrition Agency, as the party responsible for the success of the program, has made preparations to ensure the program runs smoothly.
For this reason, the National Nutrition Agency has prepared 190 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units, which are the program implementation units tasked with supplying food to program beneficiaries.
“There are 190 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units that will be ready to operate on January 6 2025,” explained the Head of the Legal and Public Relations Bureau of the National Nutrition Agency, Lalu Muhammad Iwan Mahardan in his statement, quoted Monday, January 6 2025.
Meanwhile, 190 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units are spread across various regions including West Java with 57 locations, Central Java with 36 locations, East Java with 31 locations.
Apart from that, there are also in Aceh, Bali, Banten, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Gorontalo, South Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Riau Islands, Lampung, Maluku, North Maluku, East Nusa Tenggara, West Papua and South Papua.
Furthermore, in West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, Southeast Sulawesi, North Sulawesi, West Sumatra and North Sumatra.
Prabowo’s bet
The start of the program is a big gamble for President Prabowo. Because of this, on various occasions President Prabowo asked parties who did not support the Free Nutritious Meal Program to leave his government. This direction was conveyed by Prabowo at the first Plenary Cabinet Session, Wednesday, October 23 2024.
He said he would stake his leadership on the priority programs that were his campaign promises in the 2024 election.
“I am risking my leadership. For me, nutritious food for children and pregnant women is strategic. Those who do not support this, please leave the government that I lead,” said Prabowo. (AT Network)
