ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia firmly rejects efforts to relocate peoples of Gaza, Palestine.

Indonesia’s attitude is in response to the discourse of the President of the United States (US) Donald Trump who plans to relocate Gaza peoples from their land and take over Gaza.

“Indonesia firmly rejects any attempts to forcibly relocate Gazans, Palestinians or any activities to change the demographic composition of the occupied Palestinian territory,” said Spokesperson for the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Roy Sumirat, Friday, February 7 2025 in Jakarta.

Roy said that Indonesia believes that the discourse on relocating Gaza residents will hinder the realization of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.

“As we have always dreamed of creating a ‘Two State Solution’ based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as the capital,” said Roy.

In particular, Roy stated, Indonesia continues to collaborate with the international community to ensure respect for international law. This was done primarily in relation to the various rights of the Palestinian people to determine their own destiny and maintain their fundamental right to return to their homeland.

“The only way to lasting peace in the region is to address the root causes of the conflict, namely Israel’s illegal and prolonged occupation of the Palestinian territories,” he stressed.

On that occasion, MOFA also highlighted Israel’s military operations in the West Bank. Roy said Indonesia condemned the violence and operation. where the operation is seen as an opposing effort to create a more conducive situation in the field.

“It cannot be denied that this is terror carried out against Palestinians and is aimed at perpetuating Israel’s occupation of the West Bank. “So, in this case we will continue to strongly criticize and look for things that can be done together with the international community,” said Roy.
