Indonesia Stop Importing Rice, Corn and Salt Starting This Year

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized that Indonesia will not import three food commodities starting in 2025. The three commodities are rice, corn and salt.

With no import activities from these three commodities, Indonesia is able to independently create food self-sufficiency.

“Indonesia will no longer import and I thank the ranks of ministers who have reported to me. In 2025, we will no longer import rice, no more corn, no more salt,” said President Prabowo at a cabinet meeting. plenary session at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Wednesday, January 22 2025.

President Prabowo said that Indonesia’s target in the future must be to become a food self-sufficient country.  For this reason, President Prabowo asked the ranks of the Red and White cabinet to make up their minds to work hard to achieve food self-sufficiency by 2026.
