ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia is listed as one of the countries in Southeast Asia which is a favorite destination for foreign tourists.
As of November 2023, 10.4 million foreign tourists have visited the country according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
This figure grew 110.86% compared to the same period in 2022 of 4.93 million visits.
“The number of foreign tourist visits up to November 2023 is higher than the number of foreign tourist visits throughout 2022, but still lower than the same period in 2019 or before the pandemic, reaching 14.7 million visits,” said Acting Head of BPS, Amalia Adininggar. Based on country of origin, the largest number of foreign tourist visits came from Malaysia with a share of 141,800 visits or 15.4% of total visits. Next comes from Singapore with total visits in November 2023 reaching 118,000 visits with a share of 12.9%. The third position is from Australia with total visits in November 2023 of 117,100 visits or 12.8% of the total visits for that month.
“Meanwhile, in terms of duration of stay in November, tourists spent 8.68 nights in Indonesia,” he explained.
Amalia explained that the highest number of tourists entering through I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali in November 2023 reached 396,200 visits or 43.2%.
Visits to Bali are dominated by tourists from Australia at 26.4%. The other main entrances for visits by foreign tourists in November 2023 are Soekarno Hatta and Batam International Airports. (AT Network)
