ASIATODAY.ID, VANCOUVER – The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Vancouver, together with ITPC Vancouver, and Brooklyn Industries Canada are holding a Business Forum on February 5 2024.
This event presents various companies and entrepreneurs operating in various fields.
“In order to increase the presence of Indonesian products in Canada, including in British Columbia, it is necessary to involve young business people who play an increasingly significant role in the Indonesian economy. “In this case, this includes the role of young people in producing environmentally friendly and sustainable products,” said the Indonesian Consulate General, Hendra Halim.
One of the products in the spotlight at this Business Forum event is vegan leather products from Bell Living Lab based in Indonesia, attracting at least 30 invitations to utilize vegan leather products from coffee waste into various other products.
There are companies that are interested in getting vegan leather material from Bell Living Lab.
Blanche Macdonald, a fashion and beauty school in Canada hopes that the Bell Living Lab can provide short lectures on vegan leather to students on campus.
Apart from a talk show to get to know more about this vegan leather product, including its production process and capacity, the event was also filled with workshops where participants were given the opportunity to sew this leather material (M-Tex) into a wallet. This session really attracted the interest of the participants who believed that the strength of vegan leather was the same as cow leather in general.
Bell Living Lab (PT Kurva Lonceng Khatulistiwa) is a research-based company that develops and produces biomaterials made from coffee waste.
The biomaterials produced are varied, namely M-Tex, vegan leather sheets made from coffee pulp waste, then C-Flex, a cork substitute made from husk & coffee pulp waste, and Kalpa which is a solid panel from husk & coffee ground waste.
The biomaterial is then processed into various products, including merchandise, fashion, accessories and furniture.
The company, which was founded in 2020, also won the 2023 Mandiri Young Entrepreneur competition held by Bank Mandiri. (AT Network)
