Indonesian Election: World Leaders Congratulate Prabowo Subianto’s Victory

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – A number of world leaders congratulated the victory of Indonesian Presidential candidate Prabowo Subianto after being declared superior in the 2024 elections based on quick count results.

These congratulations came from Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Australian PM Anthony Albanese also congratulated Prabowo via his X account. He said, as a fellow democratic country and neighboring country, Australia congratulates Indonesia on holding the 2024 elections.

“This morning I received a telephone call containing congratulations on the results of the ongoing election from several state leaders, Prime Minister of Australia, PM Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Singapore, PM Lee Hsien Loong, Prime Minister of Malaysia, PM Anwar Ibrahim,” wrote Prabowo Subianto via X, February 15, 2024.

”I am honored to be the first foreign leader to speak today with @prabowo who has a clear lead on official and unofficial counts, about my ambitions for the future of Australia – Indonesia relations.” wrote PM Albanese on the X account @AlboMP.

In his account, Albanese also hopes to immediately work with Prabowo after being inaugurated in October 2024.

Apart from the four leaders, Dutch PM Mark Rutte also congratulated Prabowo after winning in the quick count of the 2024 presidential election.

”I just congratulated Prabowo Subianto after the results of the general election in Indonesia. I hope to continue developing friendship and strong ties between our two countries,” said PM Rutte on his X account @MinPres.

The 2024 Election Quick Count results summarized by three survey institutions show that the presidential and vice presidential candidate pair number 02, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka is ahead in the quick count until the end of Thursday, February 15 2024.

Based on the quick count results released by the Indonesian Survey Institute (LSI), the Prabowo-Gibran pair received 57.45% of the vote. At the same time, the quick count results broadcast by Poltracking Indonesia showed that the acquisition for pair number 02 reached 58.87%.

Meanwhile, quick count results from the Indonesian Political Indicators survey institute show that the Prabowo-Gibran candidate pair received 58.03% of the vote. Prabowo-Gibran is ahead of pair number 1 Anies Baswedan – Muhaimin Iskandar and Ganjar Pranomo – Mahfud MD. (ATN)
