Previously, Wednesday, May 15, the National Police also arrested an Australian fugitive, who is an international network drug kingpin named Fernando Tremendo Chimenea in the Philippines.

The arrest was based on collaboration with the Philippine Police after the Indonesian National Narcotics Agency (BNN) issued a Wanted List (DPO) against Fernando.

Fernando, a drug dealer, plays a role in smuggling drugs into Asia.

Apart from that, the National Police is also strengthening cooperation with the Vietnam Ministry of Public Security (MPS) in hunting down criminal fugitives.

The Indonesian National Police also strengthened cooperation with the Royal Malaysian Police in combating transnational crime and increasing law enforcement capacity, in December 2022.

It is hoped that this cooperation will ensure that fugitives from Indonesia can be deported by Malaysia or other ASEAN member countries. (ATN)
