This project will increase Tangguh LNG’s annual production capacity to 11.4 million tons per year, and contribute significantly to the gas production target,” said Jokowi when inaugurated Tangguh Train 3 at the Tangguh gas field, Teluk Bintuni, West Papua.
Jokowi thanked the British oil and gas company, BP, which is currently operating the Tangguh Train 3 gas refinery project, because it has succeeded in attracting many local workers in West Papua, even becoming workers in the majority population there.
“I am grateful for this new investment. I am happy that this project absorbs a lot of workforce, where 70 percent of Tangguh’s operational staff are from West Papua,” said Jokowi.
“I heard that in 2029 the target will increase to 85 percent and 105 LNG plant operation and maintenance technicians will be West Papuan men/women who have been recruited since high school, educated from BP in Berau,” he added.
