“I am grateful for this new investment. I am happy that this project absorbs a lot of workforce, where 70 percent of Tangguh’s operational staff are from West Papua,” said Jokowi.

“I heard that in 2029 the target will increase to 85 percent and 105 LNG plant operation and maintenance technicians will be West Papuan men/women who have been recruited since high school, educated from BP in Berau,” he added.

Three Other Projects

Apart from inaugurating the Tangguh Train 3 project, Jokowi also groundbreaking three other projects in West Papua, which are still part of the upstream oil and gas project.
