ASIATODAY.ID, NEW YORK – Israel has dropped 70 thousand tons of bombs on the Gaza Strip since October 2023, which far exceeds the bombs used in Dresden, Hamburg and London during World War II.

“It is estimated that Israel has dropped more than 70,000 tons of explosives on the Gaza Strip in addition to its bulldozing operations, which resulted in the destruction of all buildings at a distance of up to one kilometer to the east and north of the strip to create a so-called buffer zone,” Euro-Med said Human Rights Monitor, Tuesday, June 4 2024.

During World War II, Germany bombed London, dropping around 18,300 tons of bombs between 1940 and 1941, according to various estimates, including archives from the New York Times.

The Allies dropped 8,500 tons of bombs on Hamburg in the summer of 1943, said Hendrik Althoff, a researcher in the Department of History at the University of Hamburg.

The Allies also used 3,900 tons of bombs on Dresden in February 1945, according to historical records.

Israel continues its brutal attacks on Gaza in response to the attack by the Palestinian group, Hamas, on October 7, 2023. More than 36,500 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and nearly 83,000 others injured, according to local health authorities.

Nearly eight months into Israel’s war, much of Gaza has been destroyed amid limited access to food, clean water and medicine.

Israel has been accused of genocide at the International Court of Justice, which in its latest ruling has ordered Tel Aviv to immediately halt its operations in Rafah, where 1 million Palestinians sought refuge from war before the invasion on May 6. (ATN)
