ASIATODAY.ID, WASHINGTON – The President of the United States, Joe Biden and the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, held a bilateral meeting at the White House, Washington DC, on Tuesday, November 12 2024.
The meeting was part of a series of official working visits by President Prabowo to the United States to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
This meeting provided an opportunity for the two leaders to discuss a number of strategic issues, including cooperation in a number of fields in a friendly and respectful atmosphere.

In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his thanks to President Biden for his invitation to visit and hold meetings in the United States.
“Thank you, President Biden. Thank you for receiving me. I also want to thank you, you personally called me to congratulate me on my election,” said President Prabowo.
President Prabowo also expressed his appreciation for the strong friendly relations between Indonesia and the United States, which have existed since the time of Indonesia’s struggle for independence.
Prabowo emphasized his government’s commitment to continuing to improve relations between Indonesia and the United States.
“The United States for us is a very good friend. The United States supported us in the struggle for independence and helped us many times when we needed it. Therefore, I will work hard to strengthen Indonesia-United States relations,” said President Prabowo.
On the other hand, President Biden emphasized the importance of commemorating the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the United States and Indonesia. He also emphasized that the partnership between the two countries is currently stronger than before.
“I am proud that the partnership between our countries is the strongest it has ever been, and today we will discuss how to continue this partnership,” said President Biden.
President Biden also identified several focuses for cooperation, including strengthening a free and open Indo-Pacific region, supporting the clean energy transition in which Indonesia plays an important role, and building safe and resilient supply chains.
President Biden emphasized the importance of a comprehensive strategic partnership that includes deepening security cooperation between the two countries.
“We also discussed global challenges including the situation in Gaza and the South China Sea,” said President Biden.
Also present to accompany President Prabowo at the meeting were Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Meanwhile, the United States delegation in attendance was Assistant to the President for National Security Affairs Jake Sullivan, United States Ambassador to Indonesia Kamala Lakhdir, Assistant Minister of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Dan Kritenbrink, as well as Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for East Asia and Mira Rapp-Hooper’s Oceania.
Prabowo Receives Visit from CIA Director
Before meeting Joe Biden, President Prabowo Subianto was visited by the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) William J. Burns at Wisma Indonesia, Washington DC.
