ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo (Jokowi) departed for Japan, Saturday, December 6 2023, for a working visit.
President Jokowi said that Japan is an important partner and strategic partner for Indonesia and ASEAN. Therefore, during this visit President Jokowi will attend three main agendas.
“The three main events in Tokyo are meeting with Prime Minister Kishida, then together with PM Kishida we will also chair the ASEAN and Japan Summits and attend the AZEC (Asia Zero Emission Community) Summit,” said the President in his statement before departure.
In a meeting with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, President Jokowi will discuss cooperation in a number of fields between Indonesia and Japan. Starting from cooperation in the fields of economics, infrastructure, energy transition, critical minerals, to maritime.
“Prime Minister Kishida and I will also chair the ASEAN-Japan 50th Anniversary Summit with the theme ‘Golden Friendship, Golden Opportunity’,” said President Jokowi.
“This summit will discuss strengthening the future-oriented ASEAN-Japan partnership, including through a green economy, accelerating digital transformation, and also implementing the ASEAN Outlook on Indo-Pacific,” continued President Jokowi.
Apart from that, President Jokowi will also attend the first AZEC Summit after it was launched on the sidelines of the G20 Bali Summit in 2022.
In the summit which will be attended by Japan, Australia and ASEAN member countries, Indonesia will prioritize a spirit of inclusive collaboration in the context of realizing an emission-free region. (AT Network)
