ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The National Assembly of the Islamic Student Association Alumni Corps held Asian Islamic Fashion and Art (AIFA) on January 25-26, 2025 in Jakarta.
This event aims to advance the Muslim fashion industry in Indonesia.
Coordinator of the Presidium of the National Assembly of the Islamic Student Association Alumni Corps (MN KAHMI) Herman Khaeron said that AIFA 2025 was not just a Muslim fashion exhibition, but could be a strategic momentum to promote the works of Indonesian designers on the international stage.
According to Herman, Indonesia has the potential to become the world’s Muslim fashion mecca considering that Indonesia is the largest exporter of Muslim fashion.
“We believe collaboration between KAHMI, the government, entrepreneurs and designers in the industry is very important to create an Islamic and sustainable fashion and art ecosystem,” said Herman in his statement in Jakarta, quoted Thursday, December 12 2024.
Meanwhile, Chair of the AIFA 2025 Organizing Committee, Viviana Hanifa, explained that AIFA had a series of events held over two days.
On the first day, January 25, there was an opening ceremony, achievement award and signing of a memorandum of understanding by policy stakeholders, both from the government side and HMI alumni as well as related industry players from various countries throughout Asia represented by ambassadors and delegates.
Furthermore, on the second day, January 26, there will be a fashion show of Muslim clothing from various backgrounds and breaking MURI records.
“We will also break the MURI record entitled Healthy Walk by the Most Women Wearing Batik Patterned Headscarves,” he said.
Viviana, who also works as a designer, plans to invite ambassadors from friendly countries in Asia to present their country’s talented designers to appear at AIFA 2025.
He said that AIFA 2025 was also a stage for local designers to appear so that their work would be recognized by foreign countries.
Apart from designers, AIFA also provides opportunities for artists or food entrepreneurs to enliven their exhibition booths at AIFA 2025.
“Later there will be a Muslim fashion exhibition and food bazaar for two days. We are opening up opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises to expand their business wings to international markets, especially on the Asian Continent,” said Vivi.
The inaugural AIFA event had the theme Halal and Green Economy in the International Fashion Industry by Innovating a Sustainable Future across Asian Countries.
“Hopefully AIFA can become an event that is regularly held annually and provides economic benefits to all relevant participants,” added Vivi. (AT Network)
