ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Corruption Eradication Commission of the Republic of Indonesia has begun to uncover crimes of corruption in the procurement of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at Pertamina in 2011-2021 which cost the company US$124 million.
Most recently, the Corruption Eradication Commission examined former Pertamina main director Nicke Widyawati as a witness in the case, on Friday, January 10 2025.
Spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission, Tessa Mahardhika Sugiarto, said that Nicke’s examination as a witness coincided with the scheduling of the examination of 3 other witnesses, former Pertamina officials, namely, Middle Auditor of Pertamina Geothermal Energy (2013-2018) Hendra Sukmana; Senior Expert Downstreams Gas, Power, New Renewable Energy Pertamina in August 2023 Mahendra Susetyodhani; Pertamina Gas Sourcing Manager in 2012 – 2015 Merry Marteighianti.
The Corruption Eradication Commission stated that Pertamina lost US$124 million in this case. Investigators investigated this when examining the former Vice President of Pertamina LNG, Achmad Khoiruddin.
“Witnesses are being investigated regarding CCL’s LNG transactions in 2019-2021 as well as losses suffered by Pertamina amounting to US$ 124 million for the 2019-2021 period,” said Tessa Mahardhika.
Tessa said that the loss in purchasing LNG was due to the product not being able to be absorbed in the market. The Corruption Eradication Commission will continue to investigate partners in purchasing these goods.
Previously, the Corruption Eradication Commission had examined the former President Commissioner of Pertamina, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama as a witness in the case on Thursday, January 9 2025.
The investigation carried out by the Corruption Eradication Commission was a development of the case, in which two state officials had previously been named as suspects, namely Pertamina Gas Director for the 2012-2014 period Hari Karyuliarto and Pertamina’s Senior Vice President (SVP) Gas & Power for 2013- 2014 Yenni Andayani. They are suspected of having committed unlawful acts that harmed state finances.
