ASIATODAY.ID, MAKKAH — Makkah is accelerating its transformation into a green city through the comprehensive rehabilitation of Al-Misfalah Park, a flagship project underscoring the city’s commitment to sustainable urban development and improved quality of life.

Spanning more than 54,000 square meters, the upgraded park now features over 1,000 trees carefully selected to thrive in Makkah’s climate.

The expansion of green coverage is expected to enhance air quality, strengthen urban ecological balance, and create cooler, healthier public spaces in one of the region’s busiest cities.

The project goes beyond landscaping. It includes environmentally conscious infrastructure upgrades, modern public facilities, and redesigned pedestrian pathways, seating areas, and rest zones aimed at promoting walkability, outdoor activity, and healthy lifestyles for residents and visitors.

Municipal authorities said the Al-Misfalah Park revamp is part of a broader, long-term strategy to expand green spaces across Makkah as the city adapts to rapid urban growth and increasing numbers of pilgrims.

Through initiatives such as this, Makkah is redefining itself — not only as a global spiritual center, but also as a future-oriented, livable, and environmentally sustainable green city. (SPA)
