ASIATODAY.ID, KUALA LUMPUR – The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Australian Federal Police (AFP) have successfully foiled the smuggling of two containers of methamphetamine or crystal methamphetamine in Port Klang, Malaysia recently with a value of 1.06 billion ringgit.
Acting Director of the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department PDRM YDH DCP Mat Zani Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali in his statement in Kuala Lumpur, Saturday, March 22 said the two containers containing 166 blue barrels and 33.2 tons of crystal methamphetamine were confiscated on January 25, 2025.
Based on initial information received by PDRM, the containers were registered as carrying raw materials for cosmetic processing and wax with the label “Paraffin Wax 3-5 percent”.
Before the drug smuggling operation was finally thwarted by the police, the ship carrying the container sailed from Iran and transited in Port Klang. The final destination of the cargo shipment was Sydney, Australia.
Mat Zani said the amount of crystal methamphetamine confiscated from the joint operation of the two anti-narcotics task forces PRDM and AFP was estimated to be able to be used by 166 million addicts and users of the illicit goods.
Currently, the police are still handling this case, including conducting an investigation to identify members of the syndicate and international organizations involved in this drug smuggling activity.
The Malaysian Narcotics Crime Investigation Department said the seizure of crystal methamphetamine smuggled by the cross-border drug network in Port Klang was the largest in 2025. (AT Network)
