MWL and GCC Welcomes Ceasefire Agreement Between Pakistan and Afghanistan

ASIATODAY.ID, MAKKAH — The Muslim World League (MWL) has welcomed the signing of an immediate ceasefire agreement between the governments of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In a statement on October 20, 2025, MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa, praised the agreement between the two nations to establish mechanisms aimed at achieving lasting peace and stability through dialogue and negotiation.

Dr. Al-Issa expressed hope that this initiative would spare both countries and their peoples from the suffering and tragedies caused by armed conflict.

Meanwhile, The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, commended the diplomatic efforts made by the State of Qatar and the Republic of Türkiye to facilitate the ceasefire agreement between the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, signed in Doha.

Albudaiwi stated that the agreement represents a positive step toward consolidating stability and strengthening mutual trust between the two neighboring countries.

He reaffirmed the GCC’s support for all initiatives that aim to establish peace, promote dialogue, and contribute to a more stable and prosperous future for the peoples of the region.

The GCC Secretary-General also lauded the constructive diplomatic role played by Qatar and Türkiye in achieving this milestone. (SPA)
