ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Bali Provincial Government will immediately implement a levy or retribution fee for every foreign tourist entering Bali of $10 per person starting February 14 2024.

The Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, said that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy will coordinate in the next 1-2 days to ensure that these regulations are ready to be implemented for foreign tourists coming to Bali.

“Don’t let it become a burden or even become a burden that has a negative impact on Bali tourism,” said Sandi in his office, Monday, February 12 2024.

This regulation has previously been tested on a number of foreign tourists in Bali.

Sandiaga said that so far there had been no negative response from tourists during the trial period. This positive response, continued Sandiaga, needs to be maintained and the levy fees that will be collected must be used in accordance with the aim of protecting the culture and environment in Bali.

He hopes that Bali will not follow in the footsteps of Bhutan, which actually abolished its levy fee policy because it was unable to achieve the targeted goals.

“We will monitor this levy carefully and collaborate with the Bali government, we will review it every 3 months, 6 months, 1 year, what kind of results will be implemented and the policies will be implemented,” he explained.

As is known, the Bali government has begun implementing levies on foreign tourists visiting Bali starting February 14 2024. This regulation is in accordance with Law Number 15/2023 concerning the Province of Bali.

This policy is actually nothing new on the Island of the Gods. However, through Regional Regulation Number 1/2020 concerning Tourist Contributions, contributions paid are voluntary. This $10 levy will apply to one tourist visiting Bali.

Tourists can pay retribution fees using various payment methods, either through Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), the Love Bali system, bank transfer, virtual account, or QRIS. Apart from that, tourists can make non-cash payments at BRI counters available at airports and ports. Payment can be made using a debit/credit card or electronic data capture (EDC). (AT Network)
