ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) is set to conduct an in-depth review of the issues surrounding the Indonesia–China High-Speed Rail (KCIC) project, also known as Whoosh.
Speaker of the House, Puan Maharani, stated that the DPR will examine various decisions made during the previous administration.
Puan explained that discussions on the project will be handled by the relevant parliamentary commission, which will further analyze the ongoing controversies and summon responsible government officials for clarification.
“This matter needs to be discussed with the government to assess both technical and financial aspects, whether they occurred in the past or are happening now,” Puan said after attending a plenary session at the Nusantara II Building, Senayan, Jakarta, on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
She further emphasized the importance of obtaining a clear explanation from the government regarding the project’s long-term direction and potential impacts.
According to Puan, this step is crucial to prevent further financial losses to the state.
“The government must also clarify its stance going forward so that the country does not continue to suffer prolonged financial losses,” she added.
In her plenary session remarks, Puan affirmed that the issues surrounding the high-speed rail project have been included in the DPR’s priority list for oversight functions during the current parliamentary session. (AT Network)
