ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the management of state-owned enterprise (SOE) assets through Danantara Indonesia, the nation’s sovereign wealth management institution, which now serves as a backbone for national economic self-sufficiency. Speaking at the Danantara Indonesia 2025 Town Hall held at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), the President highlighted Danantara’s immense potential to boost Indonesia’s economic revival.
“Danantara is the wealth of the Indonesian nation. It must be managed in the best possible way, safeguarded, and maintained with a transparent and rigorous system. This is extraordinary wealth that can drive our revival,” President Prabowo asserted before an audience of 1,500 SOE leaders on Monday, April 28, 2025.
The President expressed optimism that Danantara’s assets could soon surpass USD 1 trillion if managed optimally. According to him, professional and transparent management of SOE assets will yield tangible benefits for all Indonesian citizens.
“If we manage it properly and calculate our assets, it turns out we are wealthy. Soon, Danantara’s wealth may surpass USD 1 trillion. With proper management, this can generate significant funds for our nation,” the President stated.
President Prabowo also instructed all SOE directors to abandon outdated, inefficient, and improper practices. A comprehensive evaluation of directors’ performance, integrity, and professionalism is key to realizing this transformation.
“I ask all directors to do their utmost and leave behind inefficient or improper practices of the past. All directors must be evaluated for their performance, character, integrity, and achievements,” he emphasized.
On the same occasion, Head of the Danantara Investment Management Agency and Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM, Rosan Roeslani, reported that 844 SOEs have officially become part of Danantara Indonesia. Rosan stated that Danantara is a central pillar in strengthening national economic self-sufficiency, especially amid rising global geopolitical and geo-economic tensions.
“Danantara’s presence comes at a very timely moment. With the combined strength of SOE assets, we can build economic independence and establish Indonesia Incorporated. This is a true manifestation of Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution,” Rosan said.
He added that a comprehensive evaluation of SOEs will continue, in collaboration with both domestic and international advisors, to enhance the competence, propriety, and commitment of state asset managers.
“We hope that the presence of Danantara alongside SOEs will bring tremendous benefits, not only to Indonesia’s economy but also to all its people and our beloved homeland,” Rosan concluded.
The Danantara Indonesia 2025 Town Hall, themed “Strengthening Collaboration and a New Direction for SOEs with Danantara Indonesia,” marked a pivotal moment in reaffirming a new direction for national wealth management: professional, transparent, and focused on the interests of the Indonesian people.
