ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, attended the Forbes Global CEO Conference 2025 held at The St. Regis Hotel, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
The prestigious international business forum, now in its 23rd edition, serves as a vital platform for global economic leaders to strengthen networks, exchange insights, and explore cross-border strategic partnerships.
The hosting of this forum in Indonesia underscores the country’s rising global profile as a prime destination for investment opportunities. President Prabowo’s presence sent a strong signal of confidence to international investors, reaffirming Indonesia’s commitment to sustainable growth and openness to global collaboration.
During the event, President Prabowo joined Steve Forbes, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Forbes Media, in a special dialogue session titled “A Meeting of Minds.” In his remarks, the President emphasized the importance of adopting a mixed economic system that integrates the best elements of capitalism and socialism—ensuring both national growth and the welfare of the people.
At the start of the session, President Prabowo shared a personal story about his father, Soemitro Djojohadikusumo, one of Indonesia’s most respected economists, who developed a balanced view of social responsibility and free enterprise after returning from his studies in the United States.
“I once asked my father, ‘What do you think is the best economic system?’ and he replied, ‘The best system for us—for Indonesia—must be a mixed economic system. We must take the best from capitalism and the best from socialism,’” President Prabowo recounted.
The President further explained that Indonesia’s future economic policy will aim to ensure that prosperity is not concentrated among a select few but is shared equitably across all segments of society.
“And I believe that this kind of thinking will become the mainstream approach moving forward,” President Prabowo added.
Indonesia’s participation in the Forbes Global CEO Conference reflects the government’s strong commitment to playing an active role in shaping a more inclusive and equitable global economic architecture.
The 2025 conference brought together around 400 participants, including CEOs, entrepreneurs, and investors from across the world, providing an influential forum to discuss the direction of the global economy amid rapidly evolving geopolitical and financial dynamics.
The annual conference was previously held in Bangkok in 2024. This year’s two-day event featured distinguished speakers from various global industries, with the majority of attendees coming from regions such as Southeast Asia, Europe, China, Hong Kong, and the United States. (AT Network)
