ASIATODAY.ID, SURABAYA – PT Industri Kereta Api Indonesia or PT Inka is now facing an investigation into alleged corruption in the railway export project to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRK), where the project value reached IDR 167 trillion.
The investigation was carried out by the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office. On Tuesday, July 16 2024, the East Java High Prosecutor’s Special Criminal Investigation Team conducted a search of the PT Inka office on Jalan Yos Sudarso, Madiun City, East Java. During the search, the investigative team confiscated 40 documents from the PT Inka office.
The search was related to alleged corruption in PT Inka’s financing to its joint venture company, which is also building a 200 Megawatt peak (MWp) solar power plant project in Kinshasha, Congo.
PT Inka Multi Solusi (PT IMST), an affiliate of PT Inka, together with TSG Utama, is suspected of having links with facilitator companies and formed a joint venture in Singapore called JV TSG Infrastructure. The aim is to work on providing electrical energy.
Assistant for Special Crimes at the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office, Saiful Bahri Siregar, said that to date 18 witnesses have been questioned, ranging from PT Inka to a number of people related to the train export project.
“Last week, on July 15-16, the investigative team conducted searches at the PT Inka office and several houses of related parties,” said Saiful Bahri Siregar, Monday, July 22 2024.
During the search, 40 documents were found, in the form of letters related to the PT Inka investigation process.
“To date, we have examined 18 witnesses. What are the witnesses’ statements regarding the documents we have confiscated, we will look at the urgency of the documents we have confiscated,” added Saiful.
In handling this case, the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office is still having difficulty identifying the suspect.
“There are several parties from outside Indonesia, namely from Congo, which makes it difficult for us to confirm the events that occurred,” he explained.
Until now, the East Java High Prosecutor’s Office is still calculating state losses in collaboration with the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP).
“Currently, the East Java BPKP representative is still calculating state losses,” he concluded. (AT Network)
