ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA — Indonesia received a high-profile international guest as Queen Maxima, the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate (UNSGSA) for Financial Health, arrived at Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, on November 24, 2025.
Her visit marks the beginning of a major agenda to advance national financial health and enhance public protection amid increasingly sophisticated fraud and scam threats.
Queen Maxima was welcomed by Friderica Widyasari Dewi, Chief Executive of Supervision of Market Conduct, Financial Education, and Consumer Protection at the Financial Services Authority (OJK), who emphasized that the Queen’s mission aligns closely with Indonesia’s national priorities.
According to Friderica, strengthening financial health has become an urgent need and represents a progression from the long-running agendas of financial literacy and financial inclusion.
“Financial health is a relatively new terminology, because previously the focus was on literacy and inclusion. Now we are moving to the level of ensuring people are able to sustainably plan and manage their financial needs,” she said.
She added that OJK’s national programs are fully aligned with the global mandate advanced by Queen Maxima.
“What OJK has been working on is in line with Her advocacy to help strengthen people’s financial capability and overall financial health to support public welfare,” she noted.
Strategic Agenda During Queen Maxima’s Visit
Queen Maxima’s working visit takes place from 24–27 November 2025, making Indonesia the second country in her official UNSGSA mission.
Her primary focus: strengthening Indonesia’s financial health ecosystem and improving public resilience against financial risks.
The agenda prepared in cooperation with OJK includes:
Fraud & Scam Focus Group Discussion
Ministerial Group Meeting
National Financial Health Event
Bilateral meetings with the OJK Board of Commissioners
These activities are designed to enhance financial literacy, reinforce consumer protection, and deepen collaboration in combating the rapidly evolving landscape of digital financial fraud.
OJK expressed appreciation for Queen Maxima’s continued support of Indonesia’s initiatives to expand financial inclusion and strengthen financial health. The institution reaffirmed its commitment to advancing international cooperation to build a financial ecosystem that is safe, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable.
Queen Maxima’s visit marks an important momentum for Indonesia as it works to elevate national financial health—empowering citizens to manage their finances more wisely, build resilience, and protect themselves from rising fraud and scam risks. (AT Network)
