ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – From the evening of Monday 24 November to Thursday 27 November, Her Majesty Queen Máxima will be visiting Indonesia in her capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health (UNSGSA).
She will speak with people who use financial services and with representatives of government, development organisations, financial institutions and businesses in fintech and other sectors about policy and financial products and services that contribute to financial resilience and the financial wellbeing of Indonesia’s people.
Tuesday 25 November, Central Java
On Tuesday Queen Máxima will begin the day with field visits around the city of Surakarta, also known as Solo. At a garment factory she will speak with employees participating in a programme run by Reimagining Industries to Support Equality (RISE).
Through this programme, a number of major international clothing brands aim to contribute to the financial health of people working in the garment and shoe industry. Employees receive their salaries electronically, making it easier for them to pay bills, and they receive training in budgeting and saving.
After this the Queen will visit a traditional batik workshop, where she will speak with women entrepreneurs. The fintech company Amartha supports these women by providing a digital platform for loans, small investments and online banking through a user-friendly app. The women also receive training in financial and digital skills.
Finally, in a session organised by Women’s World Banking, the Queen will speak with young people, students, entrepreneurs and an influencer about their experiences with financial products and services.
Wednesday 26 November, Jakarta
In the morning Queen Máxima will visit a local UN office to participate in a roundtable talk with development organisations. After this she will visit the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group, to talk about developing loans that contribute to economic growth and financial health.
Next, she will make a field visit outside of Jakarta to Gran Harmoni Cluster Housing, a residential development project that provides low-emission homes to people on low and medium incomes. Bank Tabungan Negara offers buyers affordable mortgages and insurance for these homes. Here the Queen will meet a number of homeowners and attend a session in which families buying a home for the first time will sign their mortgage agreements.
In the afternoon the Queen will visit Deloitte to talk with employers about how they can contribute to the financial health of their employees and clients.
After this, at a session organised by the Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth, she will speak with CEOs about developing insurance packages and savings programmes that help people cope with financial setbacks.
Thursday 27 November, Jakarta
On the final day, as part of the National Financial Health Event organised by national financial services supervisory authority OJK, Queen Máxima will participate in a roundtable discussion on scam prevention and the safe use of financial services.
She will also meet with government ministers to discuss policy and regulations that contribute to the financial health of households, and speak with representatives of OJK. In the plenary programme of this event Queen Máxima will take part in a fireside chat on financial health.
While in Indonesia the Queen will also meet with President Prabowo Subianto to discuss her findings from her visit.
Queen Máxima has visited Indonesia previously in her capacity as the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development in 2012, 2016 and 2018.
