ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia has received special attention from the Saudi Arabian government as the country with the largest number of Hajj pilgrims in the world.
Therefore, the Saudis are ready to pay special attention to Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.
This was revealed from a meeting between the Indonesian Minister of Religion, Nasaruddin Umat and the Saudi Arabian Minister of Hajj Tawfiq F Al Rabiah at the Grand Mosque, Makkah, on November 24 2024.
“The Minister of Hajj and his team in Saudi Arabia yesterday were better prepared to pay special attention to Indonesia,” said Minister Nasaruddin in Jakarta, quoted Thursday, November 28 2024.
Apart from that, a point that was also discussed at the meeting was the request for additional Hajj officers.
“We are asking for additional officers. I convey that many of our Hajj pilgrims will be elderly, and will need assistance, both medical personnel and personal personnel,” he explained.
Apart from that, Minister Nasaruddin also asked that Indonesian Hajj pilgrims not be placed in Mina Jadid.
“We ask that the Indonesian Hajj pilgrims occupy a place in Mina, which is not Mina Jadid. But of course we have to carry out all the requirements that must be met,” he said.
In terms of transportation, said Nasaruddin, the Saudi Minister of Hajj appreciated the change in the system from muassasah to sharia, which is expected to provide better services to Hajj pilgrims.
Minister Nasaruddin emphasized that the entire selection process for related parties would be carried out transparently through an established system.
According to him, the Ministry of Religion will consistently implement the regulations and systems established to ensure that the Hajj pilgrimage runs more fairly, healthily, smoothly and transparently.
This work plan will be accompanied by a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Hajj Organizing Agency and DPR Commission VIII to agree on the necessary policies and requirements.
“God willing, next January, early, there will be provisions and there will be an MOU. Therefore, we will also finalize it as soon as possible between the Ministry of Religion, BPH, and DPR Commission VIII, especially to determine everything that is required,” he said. (AT Network)
