ASIATODAY.ID, JEDDAH — Saudi Arabia has recorded an unprecedented surge in religious tourism, welcoming 19.5 million foreign pilgrims and Umrah performers in 2025, a historic milestone that underscores the Kingdom’s accelerating transformation under Vision 2030.
According to the National Center for Performance Measurement of Public Entities (Adaa), overall satisfaction with services provided to pilgrims and Umrah performers exceeded 90%, marking one of the highest approval ratings ever achieved in the Kingdom’s history of managing the world’s largest annual religious gatherings.
The figures highlight the rapid modernization of Saudi Arabia’s pilgrimage ecosystem, with sweeping upgrades across transportation, accommodation, crowd management, digital services, and health facilities.
Adaa noted that the gains reflect a fundamental shift in how Hajj and Umrah services are planned, delivered, and monitored.
The Pilgrim Experience Program, a flagship initiative under Vision 2030, confirmed that service enhancements covered both the Hajj and Umrah seasons.
The program reported a 91% satisfaction rate among Hajj pilgrims and an even higher 94% satisfaction rate among Umrah performers, signaling strong operational performance and seamless coordination.
These outcomes were made possible through the integrated efforts of more than 60 government and service entities, operating in close alignment to deliver a unified, end-to-end pilgrimage experience — from arrival to departure.
Officials emphasized that the record-breaking achievements reaffirm Saudi Arabia’s long-standing role as the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, sustained by the direct support and leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Serving pilgrims and Umrah performers, the statement stressed, remains a top national priority, with resources continuously mobilized to enhance service quality and system readiness year after year.
As global religious travel rebounds and expands, Saudi Arabia’s 2025 pilgrimage figures signal not only a numerical triumph, but a strategic one — positioning the Kingdom as a global benchmark for large-scale faith-based tourism management in the modern era. (SPA)
