The news of the disappearance of the South Korean tourist was first received by the Bali Search and Rescue Agency on Thursday, December 2 2024 through information from the South Korean Consulate.

According to Sidakarya, the victim Kyung Dam Oh, while climbing, contacted his friend in South Korea, at around 9.00 WITA, on Wednesday, December 1 2024 at an altitude of 2,000 MDPL, but there was no further news after that.

The team then checked the location on the way to climbing Mount Agung and found his rented motorbike at Pasar Agung Temple.

On the first day of the search, 23 local guides moved from the Pasar Agung Selat route and four other people preceded the search from the Pasar Agung Banyakem route.

“We divided the guide team into two teams, because there were no eye witnesses who saw this victim when he was climbing,” said Sidakarya.

The first day’s search was nil. The victim was found after searching on the second day.

“There was an open wound on the victim’s head, possibly a heavy impact on rocks,” said Sidakarya.

The team that found it in the field also said that the victim was found with his head down and his feet up so he was thought to have died from a fall. The victim’s body was then evacuated to Karangasem hospital using an ambulance. (AT Network)
