ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Singapore’s sovereign wealth fund, Temasek Holdings, has reaffirmed its commitment to significantly expand its investments in Indonesia, with a strategic focus on green energy, the digital economy, and sustainable industrial development.
This commitment was conveyed during a high-level meeting between Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, and Lee Theng Kiat, Chairman of Singtel and Temasek board member, on Friday, July 18, 2025 in Jakarta. The meeting also served to introduce other Temasek Board Members and explore further investment opportunities.
Minister Airlangga expressed appreciation for Temasek’s ongoing contributions to Indonesia’s economic growth, particularly through capital injections into local startups and key industries.
“Temasek plays a vital role in Indonesia’s business ecosystem. The government fully supports its investment expansion, especially in sectors aligned with our economic transformation agenda,” said Minister Airlangga.
Chairman Lee Theng Kiat conveyed his gratitude for the Indonesian government’s continued support, reaffirming that Indonesia remains a cornerstone of Temasek’s Southeast Asia investment strategy.
“We view Indonesia as a key strategic growth partner. Temasek is committed to expanding our investment portfolio here, including new opportunities in the green and digital sectors,” he stated.
Established in 1974, Temasek Holdings is one of the world’s leading state-owned investment companies, with a highly diversified global portfolio.
In Indonesia, its expansion has been carried out through subsidiaries such as ST Engineering, Singtel, and Sembcorp, with investments spanning across Telecommunications: Telkomsel, Healthcare: Siloam Hospitals, Retail: Matahari Putra Prima, Banking: DBS Bank, Energy & Infrastructure: Sembcorp Industries, Koppel Corporation.
These investments reflect Temasek’s long-term confidence in Indonesia’s economic potential.
Minister Airlangga also emphasized the importance of cooperation in green energy development.
He expressed strong support for Temasek-backed Sembcorp Urban’s initiative to build green industrial parks in West Java, Tanjung Sauh, and Tembesi (Batam), which began earlier this year.
“We fully support Temasek’s green investment initiatives, as they align with Indonesia’s energy transition targets and regional leadership ambitions in renewable energy,” said Airlangga. (AT Network)
