ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The city of Bandung, West Java, Indonesia is increasingly attractive as a popular global tourist destination.
This is because the Flower City is on the list of trending destinations in the world in 2024, according to TripAdvisor, a platform that collects reviews from travelers from various countries.
Launching its website, Wednesday, February 7 2024, the winners of the Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best are destinations in the form of hotels, restaurants and activities that received a large number of outstanding reviews and opinions from their communities over 12 months.
“Less than one percent of TripAdvisor’s eight million listings earned Travelers’ Choice Awards Best of the Best, which signifies the highest level of excellence in travel,” they said.
The city of Bandung is ranked 15th as the only city in Indonesia to be included in this prestigious list.
TripAdvisor wrote, “Bandung is the third largest city in Indonesia, but it is quite close to Jakarta and offers cooler weather.” “Bandung displays a large collection of Dutch colonial architecture, as well as beautiful botanical gardens, a zoo, golf courses and a variety of culinary delights,” they added.
They also highlighted that the capital of West Java Province is famous for its touring and sightseeing activities, spas, and local culinary tourism experiences.
Meanwhile, at the top of the list is Tokyo, Japan.
“Tradition meets pop culture, where you can wander through ancient temples before relaxing at a karaoke bar,” TripAdvidor describes the city.
TripAdvisor continues, “Wake up before sunrise to watch the lively fish auction at Toyosu Market, then freshen up with a stroll under the cherry trees that line the Sumida River.”
“Spend time in the beautiful East Gardens of the Imperial Palace, then learn about Japanese history at the Edo-Tokyo Museum,” he added.
“Don’t forget to eat as much sushi, udon noodles, and wagashi (Japanese sweets) as your stomach can handle.”
Following in 2nd place is Seoul, South Korea. The city is billed as South Korea’s business and cultural center, where skyscrapers tower over Buddhist temples.
“Enjoy everything from the N Seoul Tower, built on top of Namsan Park, to the teahouses and shops in Insadong that give you a taste of Korea, which you can further experience by visiting the Gyeongbokgung grounds and museum.”
“The UNESCO World Heritage Site Changdeokgung Palace is a fine example of authentic ancient architecture,” they added.
Tourists visit Ha Long Bay to get an up-close look at the limestone islands, rock formations and amazing caves.
“Eroded over centuries by wind and water, this place is truly amazing,” says TripAdvisor. “Rent a kayak or boat, or take a tour to explore the bay.”
Still from Southeast Asia, the 4th position is occupied by the Palawan Islands. “Palawan is a slice of paradise, a slice of island teeming with exotic wildlife, ancient fishing villages and a UNESCO World Heritage Site,” the platform said.
“Meet endangered animals at the Calauit Nature Reserve and Wildlife Reserve or explore the Japanese shipwreck at Coron Island, considered one of the world’s best dive sites. A guided boat tour of the Puerto Princesa Underground River will also amaze you, they said.
Completing the list of the top five, there is Sapa, Vietnam.
“The Gothic stone church in the city center is a hub of shops and stalls, serving as a reminder of the influence of French missionaries on the city,” recommends TripAdvidor.
