ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Navy together with the US Navy and US Marine Corps (USMC) are ready to hold the 2024 Cooperation Afloat Readiness and Training (CARAT) Joint Exercise which is scheduled to take place in Lampung, May 2024.
The CARAT 2024 Joint Exercise will be held for a week in mid-May 2024 in the waters of Teluk Ratai and Piabung Lampung, the 7th Marine Infantry Battalion Command Headquarters, the 9th Marine Infantry Battalion Command Headquarters, and the 8th Marines Combat Training Center in Piabung, Lampung.
“The Indonesian Navy, US Navy and USMC have inspected the training location in Ratai Bay, Lampung this week,” said the official statement from the Indonesian Navy Information Service in Jakarta, Saturday, March 16 2024.
The joint training will present various materials such as decision-making skills, subject matter expert change (SMEE), individual training, joint coastal defense exercises involving land troops, sea defense and air defense elements.
Several combat equipment and TNI Navy troops that will be involved in the exercise include warships, helicopters, planes, drones, Frog Troop Command troops, Marine Corps troops, Engineer Corps troops, then health and public relations.
“The CARAT 2024 joint exercise also aims to strengthen soldiers’ capabilities in coastal defense operations/anti-amphibious operations,” said the statement.
It is believed that the 2024 CARAT joint exercise will increase cooperation between the two countries, strengthen friendship and strengthen the professionalism of soldiers.
Apart from military training, the Indonesian Navy, US Navy and USMC will also hold social services in the series of joint training, including renovation of public facilities, cleaning beaches, free medical treatment and providing social assistance packages to communities around the training location.
