The Most Malaysian and Australian Tourists Visiting Indonesia Throughout 2023

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian government noted that foreign tourist visits throughout 2023 have exceeded the target.

Total foreign tourists from January to December 2023 reached 11.68 million visits. This figure has increased by 98.3 percent compared to 2022.

“This has succeeded in exceeding the target. “This achievement exceeds the target limit for foreign tourist visits in 2023 of 8.5 million,” said the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, quoted Wednesday, February 7 2024.

Sandiaga said that Malaysia would be the first country to contribute the largest number of foreign tourists to Indonesia in 2023 with a percentage of 16.28 percent, followed by Australia at 12.26 percent, then Singapore at 12.11 percent, China at 6.75 percent, and Timor Leste at 6.24 percent.

“I will immediately plan visits to several countries to further enliven the industry’s efforts to continue promoting, so that in the end we will be able to continue to increase foreign tourist visits in 2024,” said Sandiaga.

Meanwhile, the average length of stay for tourists ranges from 7 – 12 nights, with the highest average length of stay in April reaching 12.4 nights. Where in that month tourists from Russia and China experienced an increase in length of stay, namely 52.14 nights and 43.88 nights.

“Meanwhile, the room occupancy rate in December 2023 will almost reach 60 percent. Which is precisely 59.74 percent. “And for the non-star hotel classification, it is 28.67 percent, this is what we will continue to pump,” said Sandiaga. (AT Network)
