Thousands of Chinese Tourists Visit North Sulawesi During January 2024

ASIATODAY.ID, MANADO – North Sulawesi Province has now become a new attraction for foreign tourists, especially Chinese.

In January 2024, foreign tourist visits to the area soared to 321.42 percent compared to the same position the previous year.

“Tourists coming to North Sulawesi through the Sam Ratulangi airport entrance in January 2024 were 3,384 people, an increase of 321.42 percent from the same position in 2023 of 803 people,” said Head of the North Sulawesi Central Statistics Agency, Asim Saputra, in Manado. , Saturday, March 2 2024.

He said that tourists from China still dominate tourist visits to North Sulawesi Province in January 2024, amounting to 2,665 people or 78.75 percent of the total foreign tourists coming to North Sulawesi, amounting to 3,384 people.

Apart from China, other foreign tourists visiting the area came from Singapore as many as 89 people or 2.63 percent, the United States (US) 80 people or 2.36 percent and Germany 59 people or 1.74 percent.

The Governor of North Sulawesi, Olly Dondokambey, said that his party would continue to make efforts to open direct international flight routes to Manado, so that visits from foreign tourists would increase.

“I hope that all the facilities prepared by the government can be utilized as well as possible by all local governments and tourism businesses to promote all our tourist destinations, this is a golden opportunity,” he added. (ANT)
