TNI AU-Royal Thai Air Force Establish Air Defense Cooperation

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) and Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) have agreed to collaborate in the field of air defense to improve surveillance in the airspace of the two countries.

In a press release from the Indonesian Air Force on Thursday, 16 May 2024, this agreement was discussed during the meeting of the two delegations at the 15th Air Force Joint Working Group (AFJWG) Meeting TNI AU-Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) in Chonburi, Thailand, Tuesday, 14 May 2024.

The TNI also welcomes this collaboration between Southeast Asian countries. In the future, this cooperation in the defense sector could include joint joint exercises, exchange of soldiers for educational purposes and mutual learning of the main weapons systems of each country.

With this collaboration, the TNI hopes that Indonesia and Thailand’s air defense will become stronger and bilateral relations will be well established.

Previously, the Indonesian Air Force had also collaborated in the field of air defense with the French air force.

This collaboration was agreed upon by Air Staff Talk TNI AU and French Air and Space Foreca (FASF) in a forum which took place in Yogyakarta, Thursday, April 18 2024.

The TNI AU delegation, namely the Deputy Operations Assistant for KSAU Marsma TNI Untung Suropati, explained that the collaboration was carried out in the fields of training, education, Subject Matter Exchange Expert (SMEE) and flight operations.

The FASF delegation, Brigadier General Hugues Pichevin, also welcomed the military cooperation scheme.

With this joint training program, the two countries have the opportunity to exchange personnel, instructors and educational materials.

Not only that, this exercise also facilitates the two countries to exchange experts or specialists in the field of tactics and defense equipment. Apart from that, this exercise also allows the two countries to exchange experiences and flight operation techniques in protecting the country’s territory.

With the exchange of knowledge in this collaboration, the Indonesian Air Force hopes that the expertise of Indonesian Air Force personnel will further develop along with improving the quality of the main defense system tools. (AT Network)
