ASIATODAY.ID, GYEONGJU — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia’s strong commitment to advancing regional economic cooperation across the Asia-Pacific during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit 2025, held at the Hwabaek International Convention Centre (HICO) in Gyeongju, South Korea, on Friday, October 31, 2025.
President Prabowo’s presence at the high-level forum underscored Indonesia’s leadership and proactive role in promoting inclusive, resilient, and sustainable economic growth across the region—aligning with the country’s broader vision of strengthening connectivity and collective prosperity.
The President arrived at the venue at around 9:36 a.m. local time, welcomed by Kim Ji-joon, Head of the Planning and Management Department of the APEC Preparatory Office for APEC 2025.
He was later greeted warmly by South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, marking a moment of strong friendship and partnership between the two nations.
Indonesia Champions a Connected and Resilient Asia-Pacific Economy
During the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting (AELM) themed “Towards a More Connected, Resilient Region and Beyond,” President Prabowo emphasized the need for cross-regional solidarity, digital transformation, and innovation-driven growth to ensure long-term economic resilience.
“Indonesia is committed to building an Asia-Pacific that is connected, inclusive, and sustainable—where cooperation forms the foundation of shared progress,” said President Prabowo.
Representing 60 percent of global GDP and more than one-third of the world’s population, the APEC Summit serves as a vital platform for Indonesia to reinforce its economic diplomacy and enhance its influence as a key driver of regional growth.
Accompanying the President was Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, who stressed Indonesia’s continued commitment to expanding green investments, strengthening supply chains, and fostering open, fair trade across the Asia-Pacific.
ASEAN–Korea Digital Synergy: A New Engine for Asia-Pacific Growth
Earlier that week, President Prabowo also attended the 26th ASEAN–Republic of Korea Summit at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC) in Malaysia, October 27. There, he highlighted the crucial role of digital transformation and regional synergy as key pillars of future Asia-Pacific growth.
“ASEAN is on track to become one of the world’s most dynamic digital markets, with the region’s gross merchandise value projected to reach USD 1 trillion by 2030,” said President Prabowo.
He emphasized that the synergy between ASEAN’s vast digital potential and South Korea’s technological leadership could serve as a new engine for inclusive regional growth. The partnership, he added, should focus on digital infrastructure, talent development, and responsible AI governance.
“The ASEAN–Korea digital partnership can drive a transformative future—building a sustainable, innovation-driven Asia-Pacific economy that benefits all,” President Prabowo asserted.
The President also reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to regional peace and stability, stressing that lasting prosperity in the Asia-Pacific can only be achieved through dialogue, cooperation, and mutual trust.
“Indonesia supports South Korea’s constructive role in fostering peace and engagement across the region,” he added.
Indonesia’s Vision: A Unified and Prosperous Asia-Pacific
Through his active participation in both the APEC and ASEAN–Korea summits, President Prabowo Subianto has outlined Indonesia’s strategic vision for a stronger and more unified Asia-Pacific.
Under his leadership, Indonesia aims to:
Strengthen regional connectivity and reinforce cross-border supply chains.
Drive digital transformation and technological innovation as engines of growth.
Uphold peace, stability, and sustainability as the foundation of long-term prosperity.
With this vision, Indonesia positions itself as a bridge and balancing power in the evolving global economy—ready to lead the Asia-Pacific into a new era of cooperation, innovation, and shared prosperity. (AT Network)
