ASIATODAY.ID, CAIRO – The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, firmly called for the importance of unity and cooperation between Muslim countries.
Prabowo highlighted the weak solidarity between Muslim countries on a number of issues, such as peace and humanity.
“We have to look at the reality of this situation. We always express support for Palestine, Syria, but what kind of support?” said President Prabowo in his speech at the special session of the 11th Developing Eight (D-8) Summit at the New Administrative Capital Presidential Palace, Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday, December 19 2024.
President Prabowo said that in several meetings a number of countries issued statements of support and provided humanitarian assistance to other countries. However, according to him, this is not balanced with real steps to create change.
“When our brothers are in trouble, we provide statements of support and send humanitarian aid. Sorry this is my opinion, but let’s look at the reality. “We must work together, have equal voices, and not be divided,” he stressed.
On this occasion, President Prabowo also criticized the divide et impera strategy which still weakens solidarity between Muslim countries. He said that internal conflicts in several Muslim countries were clear examples of internal conflicts between people.
“When will this end? How can we help Palestine if we are enemies with each other? Let’s be honest with our people,” he said.
Prabowo also believes that the international world does not respect the voices of Muslim countries. In fact, according to him, human rights issues often do not apply to Muslims.
“Human rights are not for Muslims. This is the reality, it’s very sad. “Let’s do what we can, but still look at the reality and be honest with ourselves,” he continued.
In closing, President Prabowo again called for unity, close cooperation and awareness of the global situation facing Muslims. He also emphasized Indonesia’s commitment to do its best in strengthening cooperation between Muslim countries.
“Indonesia will try as hard as possible, in whatever way we can, but I encourage unity. “I encourage cooperation,” he said. (AT Network)
