ASIATODAY. ID, BALI – The tanker Elizabeth I carrying 21 passengers caught fire in the waters of Gili Tepekong, Karangasem Regency, Bali, Wednesday, August 7 2024.

As a result of this incident, 5 crew members died, while 15 others suffered burns. The ship’s captain, Muhamad Haris Al Razak from North Jakarta, is reported to be safe.

The tanker Elizabeth I carrying fuel oil departed at around 01.18 WITA with the destination Badas Sumbawa, West Nusa Tenggara. However, after only one mile of sailing, precisely on Gili Tepekong, Karangasem, the ship experienced a fire.

The cause of the tanker fire is not yet known for certain and the police are still investigating and coordinating with the Pertamina Depot, Manggis. (AT Network)
