ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto of the Republic of Indonesia spoke out regarding the conflict in the Middle East, especially in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
According to Prabowo, the oppression that occurred in the Gaza Strip also affected the psychology of the Indonesian people. Because the majority of Indonesian people have the same religion as Gaza residents, many of whom have become victims of Israel’s attacks.
“The war in Gaza will affect us directly or indirectly. Because almost 90 percent of our people are Muslims and events involving the Islamic world will definitely affect the psychological condition and peace of our people,” said Prabowo at the Ministry of Defense office, Jakarta. Prabowo conveyed this when opening the ‘Global Geopolitical and Geostrategic Symposium and Its Influence on Indonesia’. The event was attended by thousands of TNI leaders from three dimensions, namely the TNI AD, TNI AL and TNI AU.
Prabowo said that the world’s rapid geopolitical and geostrategic developments had an impact on many countries in the world, including Indonesia.
For this reason, he believes it is necessary to convey the situation to all elements of government.
“I see this as necessary, because geopolitical dynamics are developing so quickly. The influence in one region of the world that seems far from us, in the current era has a tremendous influence on the whole world,” said Prabowo.
Apart from the war in Gaza, Prabowo also explained the real impact of the war in Ukraine. One of the most noticeable things, continued Prabowo, was the increase in fuel and fertilizer prices.
“The war in Ukraine has made fertilizer expensive and scarce. If fertilizer is expensive and scarce, it will affect food production in most parts of the world. If food production is affected, it will result in political destabilization,” he explained.
On this occasion, an overview of the global situation was also presented by a number of ministers from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, such as Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono, and Chief Executive Officer of E-System Solutions FZ-LLC Habib Boukharouba.
