ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia and Kuwait are committed to continuing to expand bilateral cooperation.
Indonesian Minister of Manpower, Ida Fauziyah said that bilateral relations between Indonesia and Kuwait were an important momentum in discussing global issues in regional and multilateral forums, such as Palestinian independence, peace and security, and socio-economic development.
“To address global issues, two bilateral mechanisms have been established in the two countries, namely the Joint Ministerial Commission and the Joint Trade Commission at the senior official level,” he said, quoted on Sunday, February 25 2024.
“Meanwhile, in the field of employment, Indonesia and Kuwait have realized a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) regarding the placement of Indonesian migrant workers which was signed in 1996,” explained Ida.
He also said that currently Kuwait is home to more than 6,100 Indonesian citizens (WNI). There are around 2,850 Indonesian migrant workers who work in the oil, health and hotel sectors.
“I hope that in the future there will be more professional and skilled Indonesian migrant workers working in Kuwait,” said Ida.
“The development of cooperation between Indonesia and Kuwait, especially in the field of employment, must continue to be carried out well so that the placement of migrant workers in Kuwait can run smoothly,” he explained.
Opportunities for Health Workers in Kuwait
Previously, Ida Fauziyah discussed the development of cooperation in placing health workers with the Indonesian Ambassador to Kuwait, Lena Maryana Mukti.
The discussion focused on cooperation plans between Indonesia and Kuwait regarding the placement of Indonesian Migrant Workers in the health sector.
“In the health sector, job opportunities for health workers in Kuwait are quite open. Currently Kuwait needs 2,500 nurses by 2024,” said Ida.
He also said that the Ministry of Health of the State of Kuwait had proposed to recruit Indonesian Migrant Workers in the health sector through the G to G scheme and based on the results of the agreement.
“BP2MI is the central institution for cooperation in the field of placing Indonesian Migrant Workers in the health sector with the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health,” stressed Ida. (AT Network)
