Indonesia Hosts 2025 OIC Parliamentary Conference: Palestinian Independence Tops the Agenda

Mardani Ali Sera, Chair of DPR RI’s Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP). Special

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The Republic of Indonesia is proud to host the 19th Session of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States (PUIC), taking place in Jakarta from May 12 to 15, 2025.

Chaired by Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani, the event brings together parliamentarians from across the Muslim world to strengthen collaboration and solidarity.

This year’s conference welcomes delegations from 35 OIC member countries and 8 observer states, with 429 registered participants in attendance. The central theme, “Good Governance and Strong Institutions as Pillar of Resilience,” reflects a shared commitment to advancing institutional integrity and sustainable development among OIC nations.

“Rather than focusing solely on protest or anger towards global powers, we believe it is time to focus on strengthening ourselves—from the inside out—by building strong governance and resilient institutions,” said Mardani Ali Sera, Chair of DPR RI’s Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP), at a press briefing in Jakarta, May 7, 2025.

A key highlight of the conference will be the introduction of the Senayan Declaration, a unified parliamentary resolution that strongly advocates for the independence of Palestine.

“We are not just condemning Israel’s actions. We are calling on all OIC parliaments to work together through real collaboration. God willing, the Senayan Declaration will clearly express our unwavering support for Palestinian sovereignty,” Mardani affirmed.

Indonesia hopes this conference will mark a significant step toward increased parliamentary diplomacy, fostering peace, justice, and unity in the Muslim world—starting with tangible support for Palestine. (AT Network)
