ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia is ready to hold the 12th WVO Conference and International Vegan Festival 2024, which will take place from 12 to 17 November 2024 at Taman Anggrek Mall, Jakarta.
The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy fully supports this event because it will strengthen Indonesia’s position as a friendly host for the vegan community, namely a lifestyle community that avoids consuming animal foods and products.
“This is the 12th event and I have come to this event several times,” said the Indonesian Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno, Monday, October 14 2024.
President of the World Vegan Organization (WVO) & Vegan Society of Indonesia (VSI), Susianto, said that the Vegan Festival this time would feature many new things. If previously vegan conferences and festivals were held on a national scale, this time they will be held on a larger scale, namely by inviting the vegan community from an international level.
“This time the event is indeed bigger because it is international in scale. This time we are very happy because this can be a follow-up activity and become a forum for celebrating National Vegan Day on October 1,” said Susianto.
This festival will feature hundreds of typical vegan culinary delights from the archipelago which can show how rich the variety of vegan-based culinary delights in the archipelago are. The archipelago’s vegan culinary delights will be served at the national vegan culinary parade and exhibition.
“So actually, if we remember, our Indonesian food is plant-based, but because of external influences, many people mix it with animal food. So if we look at things like ketoprak, gado-gado, nasi pecel, gudeg, these are plant-based and very nutritious. high,” said Susianto.
The Chair of the 12th WVO Conference & International Vegan Festival 2024, Yenny Halim, said the same thing. He said that later this festival would become a gathering place for vegetarians and vegans. However, this event is also open to the general public so they can find out about or even try vegan-based foods.
“We are preparing a series of event programs, one of which is a bazaar. At this bazaar we will present various kinds of vegetarian and vegan menus served by Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises as creatively as possible and can be enjoyed not only by vegetarians and vegans but all groups can try and enjoy them, ” said Yenny Halim.
