ASIATODAY.ID, SINGAPORE – Minister of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto emphasized that Indonesia is ready to send peacekeeping troops to Gaza to maintain and monitor the ceasefire between Palestine and Israel.

“Indonesia is ready to send peacekeeping troops to provide protection and security to all parties,” said Prabowo when speaking at the 21st International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) Shangri-La Dialogue meeting in Singapore, Saturday, June 1 2024.

Prabowo explained that this step was Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining peace in Gaza and supporting a ceasefire between Palestine and Israel.

This step is also Indonesia’s way of supporting all efforts that can accelerate the development of a two-state solution to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.

Apart from that, Prabowo said, Indonesia is also ready to send medical personnel to operate a field hospital in Gaza with the approval of both parties.

“Indonesia is also very willing to evacuate and treat Palestinian civilians who are injured and need treatment in field hospitals,” he said.

Prabowo admitted that he had received instructions from President Joko Widodo to evacuate, receive and treat around 1,000 patients with medical treatment in the near future.

In this international forum, he also called on all parties to work together to realize a permanent ceasefire and comprehensive peace between Palestine and Israel.

Meanwhile, he explained that the conflict in Gaza was important because Indonesia was part of the country with the largest Muslim population in the world. Although, he said, the conflict was in Gaza, the Middle East, not Southeast Asia.

He also said that Indonesia understands that the conflict in Gaza is a problem that has a long history and has been going on for a long time.

The main runway

On that occasion, Prabowo emphasized the importance of increasing peace and stability in the world.

“For Indonesia, the pursuit of peace, security, stability and prosperity is the main foundation of our international engagement. “We believe that only through dialogue and cooperation can we achieve this goal,” added Prabowo.

According to Prabowo, collaboration is the only way to achieve prosperity and harmony. Indonesia is strongly committed to deepening inclusive dialogue and concrete cooperation, as well as upholding international law, especially respecting the national sovereignty of all countries and territorial integrity as mandated in the United Nations Charter.

“Nationalism must be balanced with humanity. Patriotism must be tempered with wisdom and respect for all citizens of the world. “Let’s work towards the common good,” said Prabowo. (AT Network)
