ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia is set to welcome global tourism leaders as the host of the prestigious 37th Joint Commission Meeting of the UN Tourism Commission for East Asia and the Pacific (CAP) and the UN Tourism Commission for South Asia (CSA). The high-level event will take place on April 15–16, 2025, at Hotel Mulia Senayan, Jakarta.
Indonesia’s appointment as host was confirmed in the 36th CAP-CSA Joint Meeting Conclusions & Recommendations document, issued on June 28, 2024, in Manila, Philippines.
Indonesia’s Minister of Tourism, Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, emphasized that this annual regional forum is one of the most crucial platforms for UN Tourism, aimed at shaping the future of tourism in East and South Asia.
“Leaders and delegates from across the globe will come together to discuss the future of global tourism, with a focus on recovery strategies, innovation, and sustainable development,” said Minister Widiyanti in a press statement on Friday, April 11, 2025.
The meeting will also review the implementation of UN Tourism programs in the region and outline plans for 2025 and 2026.
The event is expected to draw hundreds of participants, including: UN Tourism member states, Affiliate members, International and regional organizations, Renowned global tourism experts.
Key agenda items include: 37th Joint Meeting of the UN Tourism Commissions for East Asia and the Pacific & South Asia, 60th CSA Meeting, 56th CAP Meeting, Networking Dinner.
As host, Indonesia sees this as a golden opportunity to showcase its diverse culture, top tourist destinations, and progressive policies on sustainable tourism. Minister Widiyanti stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration to ensure the event’s success.
“This is more than just hosting — it’s about showing leadership in building a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable tourism sector,” she stated.
The Minister also expressed her appreciation for the enthusiasm and support from various stakeholders — including strategic partners, tourism industry players, and local governments.
