ASIATODAY.ID, NEW YORK – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto delivered a speech at the High-Level International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York, United States, on Monday, September 22, 2025.
In his address, President Prabowo expressed deep concern over the ongoing humanitarian tragedy in Gaza. He strongly condemned attacks on civilians and called on the international community to act swiftly to stop the conflict.
“Thousands of innocent lives, many of them women and children, have been lost. Starvation looms. A humanitarian disaster is unfolding before our very eyes. We condemn all acts of violence against innocent civilians,” the President stressed.
Indonesia’s Consistent Support for the Two-State Solution
President Prabowo underlined that the international community bears a historic responsibility not only for the future of Palestine but also for Israel and the credibility of the United Nations itself. Indonesia, he affirmed, remains steadfast in supporting the two-state solution as the only viable path to peace.
“Indonesia once again reaffirms its commitment to the two-state solution. We must guarantee Palestinian statehood. And once Israel recognizes the independence of Palestine, Indonesia will also recognize the State of Israel and support all security guarantees for Israel,” he said.
The President further emphasized the importance of the New York Declaration, describing it as a just and peaceful roadmap toward resolving the conflict. He also welcomed the recognition of Palestine by major countries such as France, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, and Portugal.
A Call to End the War in Gaza
President Prabowo urged the international community to make ending the war in Gaza an immediate priority. He reiterated Indonesia’s readiness to play an active role in peace efforts, including by deploying peacekeeping troops under a United Nations mandate.
“We must overcome hatred, fear, and mistrust. We are ready to take part in this journey toward peace, including by contributing peacekeeping forces,” the President declared.
Indonesia’s Presence on the Global Stage
The international conference, co-chaired by France and Saudi Arabia, was attended by global leaders. President Prabowo was scheduled to speak fifth among the 33 invited countries and international organizations.
He was accompanied by Minister of Foreign Affairs Sugiono, Minister of Human Rights Natalius Pigai, Minister of Investment and Downstreaming/Head of BKPM Rosan Roeslani, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York, Umar Hadi.
Indonesia’s presence at this high-level forum reaffirms its leading role in advocating for Palestinian statehood and a just, lasting, and peaceful solution to the conflict. (AT Network)
