ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (Injourney Airports) and South Korean airport manager Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (Mou) on cooperation in developing and managing airports in Kuwait, Uzbekistan and the Philippines.
The MoU signed by InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi and IIAC President & CEO Hag Jae Lee in Incheon discusses four important points.
First, plans for cooperation in airport management in Kuwait, Uzbekistan and the Philippines.
Second, plans to form a subsidiary to participate in airport management tenders in Asia and the Middle East.
Third, developing human resource competencies for world-class airport management.
Fourth, exploring sister airport partnerships between airports managed by InJourney Airports and airports managed by IIAC.
InJourney Airports President Director Faik Fahmi explained that management of airports abroad aims to increase competitiveness and expand the company’s capacity so that it can aggressively encourage the transformation of domestic airports.
The signing of the MoU this time is the second strategic partnership for InJourney Airports and IIAC in airport management, after the two companies have currently collaborated in managing Batam’s Hang Nadim Airport.
“InJourney Airports and IIAC have a very close relationship. “After collaborating in managing Batam’s Hang Nadim Airport, we are now establishing strategic partnerships again to manage other airports,” said Faik in an official statement, Tuesday, October 15 2024.
As is known, InJourney Airports is a company resulting from the merger of PT Angkasa Pura I and PT Angkasa Pura II. On September 9 2024, InJourney Airports officially became the fifth largest airport operator in the world by managing 37 airports in Indonesia, including Soekarno-Hatta International Airport Tangerang, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport Bali, Kualanamu International Airport Deli Serdang, Yogyakarta International Airport, Juanda International Airport, Surabaya and Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, Makassar.
Meanwhile, IIAC is a world-class airport manager from South Korea which manages Incheon Airport as the world’s third best airport in 2024 according to Skytrax. Apart from Korea, IIAC also has an airport business portfolio in 15 other countries. (AT Network)
