New Chapter of Indonesia-Turkiye Partnership: Prabowo and Erdogan Agree on 13 Collaborations

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The partnership between Indonesia and Tukiye is now entering a new phase.

The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, and the President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyib Erdogan, have agreed on a number of collaborations after the two leaders held a High Level Strategic Council meeting at the Indonesian Presidential Palace, in Bogor on Wednesday, February 12 2025.

President Prabowo said that discussions with President Erdogan and the delegation were very intensive and productive. Both countries also have the same commitment to strengthening the partnership.

“This partnership is for the prosperity of the people of both countries, and also to work for a new, better world order leading to world peace and stability,” said Prabowo.

Prabowo detailed that in the economic sector, the two countries are committed to increasing trade with mutual benefits for both countries and also accelerating the finalization of the CEPA agreement. Prabowo and Erdogan also agreed to expand market access for the products of the two countries.

In addition, Indonesia and Turkiye will strengthen defense and security cooperation. Including education and training for armed forces personnel, intelligence cooperation and counter-terrorism.

“We agreed to also increase joint production and cooperation in the defense industry. “In the health sector, we also want to increase cooperation,” he said.

Then, in the field of international relations, the two countries emphasized that Indonesia and Turkiye remain of the firm view that there is a peace solution in Palestine, Syria and Ukraine as well as Russia. In particular, Palestine achieved independence with a two-state solution.

“I am very happy that this visit was very productive. “President Erdogan’s visit is a new chapter in our strategic partnership and will be a historical momentum towards 100 years of partnership between Indonesia and Türkiye in 2050,” concluded Prabowo.

The following are 13 Cooperation Agreements between the Government of Indonesia and Turkiye:

  2. Memorandum of Cooperation between the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and the Turkiye Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources in the field of Energy and Mineral Resources
  3. Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on Cooperation in the Field of Higher Education between the Indonesian Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Turkiye
  4. Agreement between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of the Republic of Turkiye on Cooperation in the fields of Health and Medical Sciences
  5. Memorandum of Mutual Understanding on Strategic Cooperation in the Defense Industry Sector between the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and the Presidential Defense Industry Secretariat of the Republic of Turkiye
  6. Memorandum of Mutual Understanding between the Indonesian Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Turkiye Concerning Increasing Cooperation in the Field of Trade
  7. Memorandum of Mutual Understanding between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of the Republic of Turkiye concerning Cooperation in the Agricultural Sector
  8. Letter of Intent between the Government of Indonesia and the Government of the Republic of Turkiye regarding Investment Promotion and Facilities
  9. Memorandum of Mutual Understanding between the Indonesian Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Industry and Technology of the Republic of Turkiye concerning the Establishment of a Joint Committee for Industrial Cooperation.
  10. Joint Venture Agreement between Republikorp and Baykar for the Creation of a Drone Factory in Indonesia
  11. Cooperation Protocol between the Turkish Radio Television Corporation (TRT) and the Public Television Broadcasting Institution of the Republic of Indonesia in the Television Sector
  12. Memorandum of Understanding between Turkish Radio Television Corporation (TRT) and the Republic of Indonesia Radio Public Broadcasting Institution in the Radio Sector
