ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – PT PAL Indonesia is ready to build its second frigate type warship.

COO of PT PAL Indonesia, Iqbal Fikri said that the Frigate is the first ship at PT PAL Indonesia whose design uses Naval Rules regulations from Class LR. The production process up to testing (HAT & SAT), is carried out by PT PAL personnel.

“This ship will be the largest and most sophisticated combatant ship ever built in Indonesia,” said Iqbal, quoted Friday, June 21 2024.

So far, PT PAL is believed to be the main player in the construction of TNI Navy ships. This belief is proof of Indonesia’s seriousness in moving forward to become an independent nation. Mastery of various defense technologies is a real effort from PT PAL and government support, to continue to be committed to increasing the capacity and capability of the domestic defense industry.

“This warship is equipped with the latest sensor, weapon and command (sewaco) system that has been determined by the Indonesian Ministry of Defense. There are significant differences in the number of combat system equipment and weapons platform variants on the two Red and White Frigate ships. “Because, both the first ship and the second Red and White Frigate ship carry more weapons than the initial design offered,” he explained.

The First Steel Cutting (FSC) ceremony for this second frigate project was held at the PT PAL Commercial Ship Division Fabrication workshop, attended by key officials from the Head of the Defense Facilities Agency Codification Center of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Admiral TNI Mochammad Taufiq Hidayat and Deputy Logistics Assistant to the Chief of Naval Staff , Admiral TNI Budi Raharjo and accompanied by COO PT PAL Indonesia, Iqbal Fikri.

Taufiq Hidayat said that this important moment for the FSC was the result of synergy between the shipyard, classification bureau and task force, namely the completion of the design review process and all basic ship building requirements.

“This design stage is very important to ensure that the ship construction results comply with technical specifications, and the construction process can be carried out effectively and efficiently,” he said.

Stakeholders are optimistic that the construction of the second ‘Merah Putih’ Frigate ship will be a further step in bringing Indonesia into an independent and increasingly sovereign country supported by strengthening the domestic defense industry.

The First Steel Cutting, the second Red and White Frigate, adds to the list of milestones in the development of the main equipment for an original maritime defense system made by domestic engineers. This further strengthens the position of the national defense industry at the global level.

Entering the Global Market

PT PAL is currently starting to penetrate the global market and the trend continues to increase. This is in line with management’s success in carrying out transformation in the financial sector.

“PT PAL Indonesia is committed to continuing to provide the best innovation in the maritime industry and contributing to the development of the maritime sector in the Southeast Asia region,” said Kaharuddin Djenod, CEO of PT PAL Indonesia.

For this reason, PT PAL Indonesia is again participating in the Philippines Marine (Philmarine) 2024 exhibition, which will be held from 19 to 21 June 2024 at the SMX Convention Center Manila, Philippines. This participation is part of PT PAL Indonesia’s efforts to continue to strengthen and expand product reach in international markets, especially in the Southeast Asia region.

“The trust given to PT PAL to again provide Landing Dock ships to the Philippine Navy is a special concern of the Philippine government. In this event, PT PAL is also trusted to showcase other sides of its capabilities, namely in the fields of General Engineering, Electrification and MRO. “PT PAL is ready to support defense and the independent use of renewable energy by the Philippine government,” explained Kaharuddin.

At this exhibition, PT PAL Indonesia displayed several superior product miniatures, one of which was the Landing Dock Ship. This ship is one of PT PAL Indonesia’s superior products which is designed to support humanitarian and health operations in the maritime area and become a symbol of the existence of peace in the maritime world. The reliability of PT PAL’s landing dock ships in carrying out various missions has attracted the attention of the world, including the Philippines.

At the opening event, a presentation agenda was held with the National Power Corporation (NAPOCOR) which will showcase the floating power plant (BMPP) made by PT PAL Indonesia. On this occasion, PT PAL Indonesia presented its capabilities in the field of Balance of Plant (BOP) manufacturing for the Barge Mounted Power Plant (BMPP) project. (AT Network)
