US and Philippines to Co-Host 6th Indo-Pacific Business Forum

US and Philippines. Doc

ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – The United States (US) Government, in partnership with the Philippine Government, will sponsor the 6th Indo-Pacific Business Forum (IPBF) on May 21 2024.

Government and business leaders from the United States, the Philippines and throughout the Indo-Pacific region will exchange ideas, explore regional government and business partnerships, and discuss commercial opportunities.

IPBF will showcase high-impact private sector investments and government efforts to support market competition, job growth and high standards of development for greater prosperity and economic inclusion in the Indo-Pacific.

IPBF advances the vision for an Indo-Pacific region that is free and open, connected, prosperous, safe and resilient. The Indo-Pacific region will shape the trajectory of the global economy in the 21st century. This region is the fastest growing region in the world, and contributes 60 percent of the world economy and two-thirds of total economic growth over the last five years.

The United States will remain the main economic partner in the Indo-Pacific region. U.S. companies continue to be the primary source of foreign direct investment (FDI) in the region at nearly $1 trillion, while roughly the same amount is invested in the United States by companies in the region.

The United States also remains a major trading partner with more than $2 trillion in two-way trade. Exports to the region and investment from the Indo-Pacific support nearly four million jobs in the United States.

“Together with host Philippines, we underscore our continued commitment to the region and highlight the economic relationships that have contributed to regional prosperity and interconnectedness,” as quoted in a press release from the US Embassy in Jakarta, Thursday, February 22 2024. (AT Network)
