ASIATODAY.ID, JAKARTA – Indonesia is ready to start developing Land Wind Energy. This step came after the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources together with the Energy Transition Partnership – United Nations Office for Project Services (ETP-UNOPS) completed the Licensing and Regulatory Assessment Report on Land Wind Energy.
The report was submitted during Technical Working Group (TWG) IV activities, Wednesday, June 12 2024.
“We hope that the report that has been prepared can become a benchmark for stakeholders and support the development of wind energy, especially from the licensing and regulatory aspects,” said the Director General of New Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation, Eniya Listiani Dewi, quoted Friday, June 14 2024.
Eniya admitted that she had received many requests from the Regional Government to accelerate the development of new and renewable energy which has abundant potential. This shows that enthusiasm and awareness of the use of renewable energy is increasing.
Eniya also expressed her appreciation and gratitude to ETP-UNOPS for supporting and facilitating the development of a series of studies as part of the ongoing project.
“Hopefully the results of today’s discussion and the studies carried out can provide the best recommendations and can be implemented for the advancement of new and renewable energy and benefit our nation,” said Eniya.
During the TWG IV activities, a presentation and discussion session was also held by Pondera as the implementing partner of ETP-UNOPS regarding the pre-feasibility study of Wind Power Plants (PLTB) in eight locations spread across Java and Sumatra. The presentation focused on three locations, namely North Padang Lawas – South Tapanuli (North Sumatra), Sukabumi (West Java), and Probolinggo – Lumajang (East Java).
This study includes analysis of the availability of wind resources, topography, level of electricity demand, location accessibility, seismic and geographic conditions, biodiversity and social impacts, electricity infrastructure, estimates of energy output from the planned PLTB, as well as calculations of the PLTB project business case. Recommendations for the next steps that need to be taken and possible efforts to increase the attractiveness of PLTB investment in the three locations were also presented.
This PLTB pre-feasibility study has been completed and is in the finalization stage. The other five locations analyzed were Aceh Besar (DI Aceh), Dairi (North Sumatra), Gunung Kidul (Yogyakarta), Kediri (East Java), and Ponorogo (East Java). The results of this study will be outlined in a wind energy prospectus report which will be published in the near future. It is hoped that the publication of this report will increase the interest of investors, developers and funding institutions to invest and support the development of the wind energy sector in Indonesia.
